Fontainebleau Boulder Weekend

October 14-15, 2017

Perfect weather conditions for 2 days of bouldering in the forest J

Although many people expressed interest in the weekend, the rather high fares for the train connection to Paris discouraged all but three adventurous AACZ members to embark for the snail-eaters’ country.

After a first night at Noémie’s parents (free car, food, bed, and wine – not too bad to be a small group after all!), direction Fontainebleau Saturday morning (a small hour drive from Paris inner city). Following our friends’ advice, we went to ‘Cuvier’ and ‘Isatis’, two of the MANY spots with very cool boulders in the Fontainebleau forest.

Being one of the most well-known places for bouldering in France, it was quite populated, but the place is huge, so that’s not so much of a problem. A proof that everybody goes there? Seth met mountaineering bodies from Canada; later at the campsite, the biggest group was proudly putting up a sign ‘6a plus’… A bunch of climbers from Winterthur, slightly surprised when we greeted them shouting ‘Hoi Zäme!’ J

Anyway, that was good fun! Thanks Seth for joining, thanks to our Parisian friends for showing us nice spots! Seeya!
