Winter inspiration: last winter's ice climbing trip

Despite the thaw just before the planned weekend, ten keen climbers from the AACZ found themselves in Urnerboden last winter, itching to swing the ice tools.

Although only a few full-ice routes were properly frozen, everyone still managed to have fun and get a several good climbs in. It was great to see some cool mixed lines being done, proud first leads on ice and also root for Florian and Christopher going for a long day on Sunday.

We stayed at the pleasant and conveniently-located Gasthaus Urnerboden who also arranged our pickup from the train station. Evening was spent sharing stories of past climbs and hatching new plans.

All in all, a successful trip which is well-worth repeating next year.
